Denoting the meaning "the city buried in sand" in Greek, Magusa had always been the most crucial city on the island for many civilizations like Ancient Greeks, Romans, Arabs, French, Italians, British and Turks. Through XXII. National Chemistry Congress in 2008, embracing its 22nd year as a university, Eastern Mediterranean University takes pride in welcoming distinguished scientists and participants to Magusa, TRNC. Organized by the Department of Chemistry, Eastern Mediterranean University, the XXII. National Chemistry Congress will be held at Salamis Bay Conti Resort Hotel in Magusa on October 6-10, 2008. Distinguished scientists from Turkey and other countries will present their speeches at the congress. The scientific programme for this four-day event will include invited lecturers, contributed oral presentations and poster sessions so as to share the most recent developments in chemistry. We also wish to introduce the island and Cypriot culture through organized activities.

We wish to meet you on this paradisiacal island where, according to the myth, is presented as a gift to Cleopatra by Caesar to prove his love...
